The World Customs Organisation has released a new Framework of Standards on cross-border e-commerce. The document sets out 15 global standards on cross-border e-commerce with a view to providing pragmatic, fair and innovative solutions, whilst taking into account the diverse expectations and concerns of Customs administrations and stakeholders. The core essence of the Framework is the exchange of advance electronic data for an effective risk management .
The second meeting of the WCO Working Group on E-Commerce (WGEC) took place in Brussels from 10 to 13 October 2017.
Upon further assessment of the outcomes of the Study Report on Cross-Border E-Commerce, focused on Customs administrations procedures and country-specific best practices on e-commerce transactions, the WGEC announced the tools and instruments expected to be released in the coming months.
The World Customs Organization (WCO), representing 182 Customs Administrations across the globe, recently released the final Report on Cross- border E-Commerce, which highlights the challenges and potential solutions in view of facilitating cross-border low-value e-commerce worldwide.
According to the Report, harmonizing cross-border flow processes, including Customs, is even more essential nowadays in the fast growing e-commerce sector.
