On 27 October the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) launched an investigation into the hotel booking websites for misleading practices against consumer law. By means of requests for information addressed to several companies of the sector, the CMA is seeking information in particular on:
- hotels ranking in the search results;
- pressure selling aimed at rushing customers into making a booking decision;
- discount claims;
- hidden charges.
